A few notes...

Photos are now available at Kreutz Photography.  They are awesome, so be sure to check them out.

There's also a new website where you can find and review events called the RaceVine.  The Skeese Greets Women's Tri is on RaceVine and can be found HERE.

And if you were a finisher at the 2009 Skeese Greets Women's Tri, then you received a reusable, BPA Free PETE plastic water bottle.  Please note that you should NOT put it in the dishwasher!  It might melt it into a different shape.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the 3rd Annual Skeese Greets Women's Triathlon!  Results can be found HERE.  Photos will be available from Kreutz Photography in the next week or so.  There were 323 finishers, including Pro Triathletes Kelly Handel and Desiree Ficker.  We were shown why Desiree is such a great athlete - she has guts and she showed it by leading everyone in the National Anthem!  I hope it inspired you to get out of your comfort zone and try new things, just as Desiree did.

Tri Zones Free Transition Clinic
By Tri Zones Training

On Saturday, May 2nd at 2pm (during packet pickup)
Tri Zones Training will offer a free transition clinic at Jack & Adam's Bicycles for participants in the Skeese Greets Tri.

Here is what you will learn:
We'll share tips on how to transition effectively from swim to bike, and then bike to run.  You don't have to be a quick-change artist, but if your transitions are faster, it's "free" time!  We'll talk about gear, where to set up your items, and how to save steps during transition.  During this hands-on clinic, you'll get to practice transitions!  Bring all of your race day gear except your bike.  Print our handy race day checklist to help you remember what to pack. Afterwards, we'll open it up for Q&A.

Tri Zones is also supplying everyone who crosses the line on Sunday with a cold, wet towel!  This great new addition to the Skeese Greets Tri will help you cool down after your hard effort!  How good is that gonna feel?!

Friday, April 17, 2009

Who's ready for a nice and relaxing massage?  And what if we said it's FREE!  At the Skeese Tri after-party, you'll be treated to post-race massage!  That's right - free massages!  Advanced Rehabilitation will be on hand to work out your tired muscles.  Advanced Rehab has several locations around Austin, so next time you need some physical therapy, go check them out!

The Skeese Greets Women's Tri has teamed with the new Austin Chapter of Girls on the Run. Not only will Skeese Greets donate some funds to this worthy cause, but entrants also have the option of tossing in a little extra $$$ themselves.  Here's some info on this great organization:

Girls on the Run is a 12-week after-school program that uses the power of running to help prepare pre-teen girls for a lifetime of self-respect, positive choices and healthy living. In each session, girls are guided by trained volunteer coaches, and learn about the power of positive self-image. At the end of 12-weeks the girls, along with their families, coaches and volunteers celebrate their self-confidence by participating in a local 5K race.
